Tekle has spent over four years at the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Georgia, working to strengthen democracy, promote gender equality, and support civic engagement. She holds an honours degree in Law from Tbilisi State University (TSU). She grew up in a town where women’s voices were often silenced and their ambitions left unspoken. Instead of discouraging her, this pushed her to stand up for those whose potential is too often overlooked. In a country where 20% of the territory remains occupied by Russia and democracy is constantly challenged, Tekle is committed to helping build stronger protections against disinformation and foreign influence.
At Oxford, she plans to build the policy skills she needs to support Georgia’s path toward EU integration. Her long-term goal is to start a consultancy and help mentor the next generation of leaders - working toward a Georgia that is fairer, freer, and truly democratic.
