Rehan has a background in psychology and experience in the development sector, particularly in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). Based in Sri Lanka, he has worked with organisations such as The Asia Foundation and MHPSS.net/The Institute for Health Policy on local and regional MHPSS programs such as; the development of a regional e-learning platform for basic psychosocial skills across Sri Lanka, Nepal and Timor Leste, implementation of community-based MHPSS methodologies with civil society, piloting a holistic model for mental health recovery, mapping studies on psychosocial sensitivity across health, social services and child care sectors in provincial councils and enablers and disablers for service receivers and service providers in the Maldives.

Rehan is also a co-founder of Project Bloom, a volunteer-based initiative working with the National Institute of Mental Health, Sri Lanka, and the National Child Protection Authority to support children in recovery from difficult experiences.

At Oxford, he aims of broadening his perspectives to work towards meaningfully embedding MHPSS in a larger Global Health system.
