Yongjian holds a Bachelor of Laws from Fudan University, China. He has gained practical experience at several leading international law firms, focusing on cross-border pharmaceutical collaborations, corporate governance, and intellectual property matters. He spearheaded a sign language legal education initiative and serves as a core member of Zhihe Society. He also contributed to founding a research network focused on law and sexuality. His work empowers children with disabilities, diverse gender and minority groups, and other marginalised communities.

At Oxford, Yongjian aims to deepen his academic engagement with pharmaceutical policy and human rights jurisprudence. He is particularly interested in the regulatory challenges of enhancing trustworthiness and accessibility in healthcare systems in China and abroad.
