Amir is a Pakistani medical doctor who graduated with an MSc in Global Health Science at the Nuffield Department of Population Health at Oxford as a Weidenfeld scholar in 2016-17.

Prior to Oxford, Amir graduated from the Aga Khan University in 2015, and pursued an his research interests – stemming from his experience with various organizations, including the National Alliance for Tobacco Control (NATC) Pakistan, and Oxford Big Data Institute – lie in epidemiological cancer research, health systems and policymaking, and the use of large-scale healthcare databases to effect improvements in health service delivery mechanisms, particularly in low-income settings.

He is widely published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has authored over two dozen research articles. Further, he aims to combine his research interests with his clinical passion for surgical oncology.

Currently, Amir is Resident in General Surgery at New York University, and Master of Arts Candidate at NYU School of Global Public Health.
