Leadership Programme overview

English - 简体中文

The WHT is not like traditional scholarships which focus on meeting your financial needs. The programme is well thought out and provides a well-rounded experience including academic, social, and practical life skills. The cohort was a close family unit, and my Oxford experience would not have been the same without it. I plan on paying it forward by working on implementing policies in developing countries that will help the most disadvantaged in those communities.

The Leadership Programme is the unique feature of the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships. Alongside the rigours of academic study, it prepares Scholars - intellectually, professionally and practically - to take on leadership positions in their chosen fields. Over the course of a year, Scholars gain the knowledge, skills and networks to contribute to public life in their countries and regions of origin and to build lasting professional links across cultures and continents through three key strands:

building a foundation for ethical leadership (Moral Philosophy seminar series),

developing an entrepreneurial mindset (Business Challenge),

creating a toolkit for professional excellence, (impactful communication, negotiation and debating skills, networking)

alongside -

cross-cultural bonding activities to form a community of support for scholars to thrive during their time at Oxford and sustain a lasting global network afterwards.

Throughout their time at Oxford, Scholars receive support from the Weidenfeld Scholarships Team who are on hand to support and provide advice on a range of issues, academic and pastoral.

From when I was about 14 years old, I dreamt about going to Oxford, and I worked exceedingly hard to achieve this goal. The Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust did not just give me the opportunity to achieve my goal, it exceeded my expectations. I say this not only because of the funding, but because of the transformative experience I have had through the Leadership Programme and my interactions with my fellow scholars, who have never failed to inspire me.
