Alex is a Chilean lawyer and with a master’s degree in criminal law. In 2015 he was elected as the first President of Ciudadanos, a liberal party from Chile.

During his university studies, he worked as a Research assistant and teacher assistant on criminal law.

After graduating, Alex returned to Chile where he worked as Chief of Public Policy and International Relations for the Indigenous Matters Coordination Unit and where he put in place a national strategy that takes into account international experience regarding restitution for the indigenous people in his country (more than 10% of our country belongs to one of the indigenous communities). After the presidential election in 2021, where Alex worked as an advisor for one of the presidential candidates, he has been involved in the design and execution of the campaign for the Constitutional Assembly for a liberal candidate.

Alex is also founder and Research Associate at ConfluirCL, Chile. He is now based in Austria and is pursuing a PhD in Political Theory at the Central European University.
