Mohamed is a Paris-based founding partner of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes. He was previously a partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he practised for more than twelve years, focusing on disputes in the oil & gas sector or disputes related to the Middle East.

He focuses on international disputes in the oil & gas sector or involving interests in the Middle East. He has represented companies, States, and State-owned entities in more than sixty commercial and investment treaty matters, including many multibillion-dollar disputes involving novel questions of international law and geopolitical issues.

He also advises energy companies regarding their contractual portfolio and on how to manage potential liability and mitigate litigation risk. Mohamed also lectures on international investment law at Sciences Po Law School.

I have advised on a number of regional disputes and my practice typically involves reconciling the legal, political and economic considerations which drive any major dispute. My time at Oxford allowed me to reconcile two of the worlds’ main legal tradition, civil law and common law. The WHT programme afforded me valuable insight into the interaction between business and policy and helped me hone the skills necessary to navigate cultural differences in pursuit of common interests.
