Kate McGovern is the editorial director for EdNavigator, a nonprofit that partners with healthcare and community organizations to provide personalized education guidance to families as they navigate the pre-K-12 system in the US. She is also the published author of several novels for young people ages 8-15.

Previously, as the Director of Publications for TNTP, a nonprofit dedicated to improving U.S. public schools, Kate lead the writing, editing, and production of TNTP's original research reports. Kate is also a former middle school reading specialist for the Harlem Children's Zone, where she was the co-founder of Theatre in the Zone, a performing arts program that staged Shakespeare productions with students. Kate has published several novels: Welcome Back, Maple Mehta-Cohen (Candlewick Press 2021), Fear of Missing Out (Farrar Straus + Giroux 2019), Rules for 50/50 Chances (Farrar Straus + Giroux 2015).

She currently lives in Cambridge, MA with her husband and two daughters.
