Julia is a Brazilian journalist and achieved a masters degree in Latin American Studies with distinction in Oxford. Prior to that she was the BBC's correspondent in Rio for almost ten years, covering the main news events in Brazil, from the World Cup and Olympics to mass demonstrations and a presidential impeachment. Julia became a mother shortly after obtaining her degree, and plans to resume her career soon, focusing on podcasts and documentaries looking at Brazilian history, gender and racial gaps, inequality, and environmental issues.
