As a graduate in Environment and Sustainability, and International Relations from the University of British Columbia, Ayan acquired professional experience undertaking policy-oriented research, analysis and communication. At the Canadian International Resources and Development Institute, he evaluated the efficacy of Community Benefit Agreements through a mining sector-focused policy-gap analysis and also investigated the vulnerabilities of Canada's Environmental Impact Assessment legislation. At the Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning, he worked on implementing a communication strategy to encourage citizen-driven climate action across local neighbourhoods.
An avid photographer, filmmaker and media designer, Ayan created content for the Indian government's nationwide Sanitation campaign and also mentored students at a local orphanage and government school.
Ayan is currently working in the Climate, Energy and Decarbonisation Sector and is based in London, UK.
