Aban works in the international development sector in Pakistan, where she currently heads the Innovation Challenge Fund at a DFID funded programme focusing on expanding financial inclusion.

As a Weidenfeld-Hoffman scholar, she completed her MPhil in Development Studies in 2017. She has broad experience of over 10 years in the development sector, having worked with local and international organizations such as DAI, Pakistan Microfinance Network and the International Growth Centre. Previously a Fulbright scholar, she completed in 2006 an MA in Development Economics from Williams College.
